Ana Nikolić

Career

Her first public appearance was in the 1998 music talent show 3K DUR, where she covered the Marina Perazić title Kolačići. She became a media and tabloid favorite, mostly because of her carefully constructed image of sexy seductress, which suited her perfectly. Still, she does not think of herself as a particularly fatal woman, for she is aware that she has put a lot of effort into every stage of her life to achieve her desired result, primarily in the business arena. On the music scene she appeared relatively late, unlike many of her colleagues, at the age of 25, which, considering many various aspects, was at the same time an advantage and disadvantage.

Nikolić competed to represent Serbia and Montenegro in the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 with the song Romale, romali. The song finished 5th in the national final, having scored 46 points. Afterwards it was decided that the country would not participate in the contest in Athens, Greece, at all. Romale, romali became a summer hit and was played many times on commercial Serbian television networks such as RTS, BKTV and Pink TV. In 2009, Ana was once again in the line-up for representing Serbia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009. She was hotly tipped as the favourite to win Beovizija. On the evening of the semi-final, when the last of the ten qualifiers was about to be announced, several people in the audience cheered Nikolić's name. When host Jovana Janković opened the envelope, however, she remarked (in Serbian) "Not Ana", as the final qualifier was instead Pozitivan Haos. Several hours before the final, RTS released a statement that the televotes were not counted properly, and therefore Ana and Ivana Selakov were to have qualified. Ana, however, offended by the mistake, chose not to participate.^[2]

Personal life

She is married to producer and recording artist Stefan Đurić Rasta, with whom she has a child named Tara (2017).^[3]
