Ramón López de Osornio (1685–1750s) was a Spanish officer of militias and landowner of Buenos Aires Province.[1]

Biography

He was born on August 31, 1685, in Buenos Aires, the second son of Francisco López Osornio and Tomasa Merlo, belonging to a family of landowners of the city.[2]

Osornio was married to Margarita Sosa, daughter of a family of landowners probably from Asunción (Paraguay).[3] In 1715 was born his first daughter, Paula López de Osornio Sosa, who was baptized on June 4 of the same year in the Cathedral of Buenos Aires.[4]

Ramón Lopez Osornio inherited from his parents some hectares of land and had his ranch in the town of Magdalena.[5] He was a Captain of militia in the Presidio de Buenos Aires, serving in the suburban areas of the Province of Buenos Aires.[6]

He was the uncle of Clemente López de Osornio and uncle in law and godfather of Casimiro Alegre, a known commander of the town of La Matanza.[7]
