Raiven (born Sara Briški Cirman, April 26 1996) is a Slovenian pop singer and harpist[1].
Career
Cirman began her musical work at the age of four when she enrolled in the Ljubljana Music Quartet[2]. By the time she entered music school, she was already focussing on playing the harp[3]. She attended Maribor Conservatory of Music and Ballet and specialised in harp, jazz singing and solo singing[4]. In 2015 she graduated as a solo singer and continued her musical education at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana[5]. She has been rewarded several times for her achievements in the field of classical music[2][3].
In 2010, she performed at the festival of new compositions FeNS with the song "Zmorem vse" and finished in 3rd place[3]. Starting from 2014 she began performing under the stage name Raiven, debuting with the song "Jadra" which was created in cooperation with Tade Košir and Jernej Kržič[4][6]. In September 2015, a second single "Bežim" was released[5]. On 27 February 2016 she competed to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest for Slovenia during the national final Evrovizijska Melodija (EMA)[2] and took second place[7]. She competed again a year later, where she ended in third position with "Zažarim"[8]. Raiven was co-host of the EMA in 2018 and gave a performance during the televoting[9].
