Rafael Baca Miranda (born September 11, 1989) is a Mexican footballer who currently plays as a midfielder for Cruz Azul. Primarily a central midfielder, Baca's play is described as displaying "the tenacity in winning second balls, the clean, quick passing to the flanks."[1]

Career

High School

Rafael Baca Miranda graduated from Animo Leadership Charter High School in 2007. While there he scored a total of 58 goals and received the Athlete Academic Award.[2]

College

Rafael Baca Miranda attended Loyola Marymount University[3] (2007-2010), where he was the star player of his team. His coach, Paul Krumpe, also played professional soccer. In 2010 LMU won the first and only conference championship in school history.

Professional

On July 8, 2011, Baca signed a Major League Soccer contract with the San Jose Earthquakes.[4][5]

One day after being signed, Baca made his professional debut coming on as a substitute in the 80th minute for Simon Dawkins. The game ended in a 0–0 tie against the Philadelphia Union.[6]
