Quarter Ton class
Quarter Ton Class is an offshore sailing class of the International Offshore Rule racing the Quarter Ton Cup between 1967 and 1996 and from 2005 till now. The class is sailed by smaller keelboats of similar size and is likely the worlds most produced keelboat class.[1]
History
This sailing class has sailed Worlds from 1967 till 1997. In 2005 was a revival Quarterton Class started in Cowes and they sailed under Irc Quarterton Cups from 2005 till now. In 2013 started in The Netherlands a yearly Dutch Quarterton Cup under Orc. In France and Ireland are also races for Quarter Tonners.

Famous Winners
2005: The quarter tonner "Purple Haze", owned by Tony Dodd, carried off the Gold Roman Bowl, the top trophy in the JPMorgan Asset Management Round the Island Race.
1979: in the biggest quartertonfleet ever won the Bullit with designer Jacques Fauroux on board.
Designers
More than 100 yachtdesigners designed quarter tonners. Most famous designers like Farr, Finot, Fauroux, Berret, De Ridder, Elvstrom, Holland, Jones, Judel Vrolijk, Perry, Van de Stadt, Sparkman & Stephens designed quarter tonners in their early years.
