Pudhiya Boomi (Tamil: புதிய பூமி English: New Earth), is a 1968 Indian Tamil thriller film directed by Chanakya, starring M. G. Ramachandran in the lead role and Jayalalitha, Sheela, M. N. Nambiar, S. A. Ashokan, Nagesh among others.

Plot

In a moved back region, in heights of the Tamil Country in the middle of the 60s...

Katheeravan (MGR) is a highly talented and extraordinary cardiologist and heart surgeon while his father (Tiruchi Selandhar Rajan) is an honest police officer.

On saves human life and other products the law.

Kangeyan (M. N. Nambiar) is a criminal whose life Kathiravan saves.

However, when Kangeyan comes to know that he is the son of the police officer who is out to get him, he tries to kill Katheeravan, but without success.

Meanwhile, Kangeyan's deputy pulls off the break wires Katheeravan's car and he escapes.

Katheeravan meets with accident and land ups in a village where he meets Kannamma (Jayalalitha).

Love blossoms between them.

On the other hand, threat Kangeyan constantly looms over the village and Katheeraven's life.

How Katheeravan tackles kangeyan and how the two lovers are ultimately united is what the rest of the film all about.

PUDHIYA BOOMI is the Tamil adaptation of HIMALAY KI GODMEIN, a Hindi thriller movie, in 1965, directed by Vijay Bhatt, with the actor Manoj Kumar as hero.

It is 3rd staged of "Tapi" Chanakya for a MGR's movie.

The soundtrack of PUDHIYA BOOMI is a big success.

One scene where MGR and Jayalalithaa having lunch was the 1st scene to be taken and it was taken in 1966. The rest was done after MGR's shooting incident.

Five years later, in 1973, the actress Jayalalidha takes back the same role in the Telugu version, DOCTOR BABU[3] directed by Tammareddy Lenin Babu, with the actor Sobhan Babu...

MGR, already, put on, in the past, doctor's role in DHARMAM THALAI KAAKKUM, 1963.

MGR accompanies Jayalalidha in the sound of a bagpipe in the screen in "Nethiyile Pottu...".

The music is composed by M.S.Visuwanadhan and lyrics were written by Kannadasan and Poovai Senguttavan.

The song "Naan Ungal Veetu" rendered by legendary T. M. Soundararajan, is one of the most popular of the directory of MGR.
