Protosticta antelopoides,[2][1] spiny reedtail,[3] is a damselfly species in the family Platystictidae. It is endemic to Western Ghats in India.[1]

It is known to occur in Munnar, Idukki district and Kozhikode district of the Kerala. It is restricted to hill streams with good riparian forest cover.[1] Its labium pale yellow, labrum and anteclypeus turquoise-blue, the former narrowly bordered with black and rest of head steely black with eyes bottle-green. Prothorax is pale atsides, greyish-black on dorsum, posterior lobe furnished with a short robust spine at each outer end, and internal to these a pair of very long divaricate horns which extend nearly half way up the thoracic dorsum. Thorax is steely blue-black on dorsum and anterior part of sides. Abdomen is black, pale yellow beneath and on lower parts of sides, this colour extending on to dorsum at the base of segments 3 to 6 to form narrow basal rings. Remaining segments are unmarked. The male of this species is remarkable for several features unknown in other species in this genus; the armament of the prothorax, the total absence of any identification mark on the end segments of the abdomen, and the unmarked under surface of the thorax. It is bigger than any other known species of this genus too.[1][4][5][6]
