Prospect is an American science fiction film starring Sophie Thatcher, Jay Duplass, and Pedro Pascal. The film is written and directed by Zeek Earl and Chris Caldwell. It premiered on March 5, 2018 at the 2018 South by Southwest Film Festival. The company Gunpowder and Sky, under their science fiction-oriented label Dust, will release the film in Regal Cinemas theaters on November 2, 2018. The film will be released on video-on-demand in 2019.

Synopsis

A man and his teenage daughter travel to an alien moon with a contract to mine gems in the moon's poisonous forest. The daughter is forced to face other people in the forest, as well as her own father's greed.[1]

Prospect premiered on March 5, 2018 at the 2018 South by Southwest Film Festival, where it won the Adam Yauch Hörnblowér Award. The company Gunpowder and Sky, under their label Dust, will release the film in Regal Cinemas theaters on November 2, 2018. The film will then be released on SingularDTV's blockchain-enabled video-on-demand platform in 2019.[2]

Critical reception

The review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes assessed 11 reviews as positive or negative and reported 9 as positive and 2 as negative for a rating of 82%. It reported an average rating of 8/10.[1] The similar website Metacritic assessed 3 reviews and reported 2 as mixed and 1 as positive.[3]
