Prokletí Eridenu (English: Curse of Eriden) is a 1997 Czech dungeon-crawler video game developed by Napalm Soft and published by Zima Software for DOS.

Production

The title was released quite late for its genre, coming out at the very end of the dungeon era.[2] In 1999, a full version of the Eriden Curse has been downloadable free of charge from the Internet.[2]

Plot and gameplay

The story takes place in the ruins of the mysterious, cursed city of Eriden, in the dungeons below the hero must destroy four magic mirrors. The player controls one character out of a choice of nine - each has three basic attributes - strength, mana, health. Like in Dungeon Master, there is hunger and thirst are also game mechanics for the main character.[3][4]

Critical reception

The game received negative reviews, garnering a 40% from Level[3] and a 30% from Score.[4] Root.cz felt the title fell into the category of somewhat less successful (but interesting) games.[5] High Voltage wrote that the game had a reputation for a terrible dueling system, ragged level design, and sterile graphics.[6] In contrast, Bonuzweb.cz highly praised the game's automaping feature and the well illustrated fights with enemies.[7]
