Progress Energy is an upstream energy company focused on the responsible development of unconventional natural gas and is based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Since 2012, the company has been owned by Malaysia-based Petronas.[1]

History

Progress Energy has transformed from a junior exploration company to a steady energy trust into a burgeoning entity with growing production and a massive undeveloped natural gas resource. See more here.

Operations

Progress is focused on natural gas development in Western Canada. The company's assets are concentrated in the Foothills of northeast British Columbia and the Deep Basin of northwest Alberta where it has built a land, reserves and production base.

Together with its North Montney Joint Venture partners, JAPEX, PetroleumBRUNEI, IndianOil Corporation, and Sinopec-China Huadian, Progress is the largest natural gas reserves owner in Canada with approximately 800,000 acres of largely contiguous mineral rights in the North Montney. Progress is the operator of the joint venture, which has more than 15,000 identified drilling locations.
