Princess Keisha Omilana of Nigeria (born March 8, 1989) is an American fashion model and businesswoman. She is the first African-American woman to be featured in three consecutive commercials for Pantene. Through her marriage to Prince Adekunle Adebayo Omilana she is a Nigerian princess of the Yoruban House of Arigbabuowo.

Early life

Princess Keisha was born on March 8, 1989 and raised in Inglewood, California.[1] She moved to Chicago, Illinois to study fashion. After modeling in a fashion show while in college, she switched her focus from design to modeling.[2]

Career

Princess Keisha works as a fashion model and is signed with Ford Models.[3][4] She has modeled for Pantene, L'Oreal, CoverGirl, Revlon, and Maybelline.[5][6] She was the first African-American woman to be featured in three consecutive Pantene commercials and was dubbed "The Pantene Girl".[7][8] She made appearances in the film Zoolander and the television shows 30 Rock and Saturday Night Live.[9][10] She was also a participant in the American reality television series Runway Moms. In 2017 Princess Keisha founded A Crown of Curls[11], a public workshop and private consultation service in London focused on educating women and children on black and mixed-race hair care.[12][13][14]

Along with her husband, Princess Keisha is a co-owner of Wonderful-TV, a European Christian television network.[15][16]

Philanthropy

Princess Keisha and her husband are patrons of Ronald K. Brown's dance company Evidence.[17] She and her husband's company sends food and goods to the bush areas of Nigeria using planes owned by her husband's airline. They also assist clergy in building congregations throughout Africa.[18]

Princess Keisha has walked in fashion shows to raise money for the Make A Wish Foundation and is a patron of the Clinton Foundation.[19]

Personal life

Princess Keisha met Prince Adekunle Adebayo Omilana, a member of the House of Arigbabuowo and a prince of Ipetu-Ijesha in the Yoruba Kingdom in Nigeria,[20][21] when she got lost on her way to a model casting.[22] After two years of dating, Prince Adekunle proposed on Christmas morning.[23] He did not reveal that he was a prince from a Nigerian royal family until after the proposal.[24] The couple married a month later in a private ceremony in New York City with twenty guests and a clergyman from Nigeria. A week-long royal wedding was celebrated later in Nigeria.[25] The couple has one daughter, Princess Diora Omilana, and one son, Prince Diran Omilana.[26][27]

After the Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, news outlets began listing Princess Keisha along with Princess Angela of Liechtenstein, Princess Ariana Makonnen, Princess Sikhanyiso Dlamini of Swaziland, and others as modern examples of black royal women.[28][29]
