Prince Henrik of Denmark, Count of Monpezat (Henrik Carl Joachim Alain; born 4 May 2009), is the third and youngest son of Prince Joachim and the only son of his second wife, Princess Marie.

Henrik is ninth in the line of succession to the Danish throne.

Biography

Prince Henrik was born on 4 May 2009 at Rigshospitalet the Copenhagen University Hospital in Copenhagen.[1]

Henrik has two older half-brothers from his father's first marriage, Prince Nikolai and Prince Felix, and a younger sister Princess Athena.

As with his brothers and cousins, his names were not revealed until his christening, which took place on 26 July 2009 at the Møgeltønder Church, where older brother Felix was also christened.[2] At his christening he was named Henrik Carl Joachim Alain[3] after his paternal grandfather, his father, and his maternal grandfather. Henrik's second name, Carl, is possibly after his last surviving great-granduncle, Count Carl Johan Bernadotte (1916–2012), who attended his christening.[4]

His godparents are the Crown Princess of Denmark (paternal aunt), Charles Cavallier and Benjamin Grandet (maternal uncles) Britt Davidsen Siesbye and Christian Scherfig.[5]

On 11 August 2015, he started school at Sct. Joseph Søstrenes Skole – a Catholic private school in Ordrup.[6]
