Ponteland railway station served the parish of Ponteland, Northumberland, England from 1905 to 1967 on the Ponteland Railway.

History

The station opened on 1 June 1905 by the North Eastern Railway. It was situated immediately north of West Road on the A696, near the junction with Darras Road. This was the busiest station on the line, selling 32,084 tickets in 1911. The goods facilities were the largest on the line which were to the west of the station, having five sidings, a large goods shed, a water tower, a cattle dock and a reversing loop in 1920. The station closed to passengers on 17 June 1929, although the last passenger train was a five-day North East Railtour on 29 September 1963. The station closed to goods traffic on 14 August 1967. A private siding remained open until the mid 1970s when it was removed. The station building survived into the 1960s. The site of the station is now a supermarket.^[1]
