Ponnukku Thanga Manasu (Tamil: பொண்ணுக்கு தங்க மனசு, English: The Girl has a Golden Heart) is an 2018 Tamil language family melodrama, which airs on Vijay TV and streams on Hotstar. It is a remake of the Malayalam serial Sthreedhanam that was aired on Asianet. It started airing on 20th August 2018 on every Monday to Friday at 20:00 (IST).[1]. It was replaced by Nenjam Marappathillai on its timeslot.
The show is directed by Harison and written by Pradeep Manikkar and features the cast including Radhika Rao, Ashwin, Sirisha Sougandh, Yuvarani and K. S. G. Venkatesh.
Synopsis
Sethulakshmi (Sirisha Sougandh), who is money minded and greedy wants her eldest son, Prashanth (Ashwin) to get married to a girl from a rich family. But Prasanth loved Divya (Radhika Rao), a middle-class family girl and married her. She is tortured by her greedy mother-in-law Sethulakshmi for dowry. In between these conflicts with many twists and turns, could Divya and Prashanth stand up to Sethulakshmi and lead a happy married life, forms the rest of the story.[2]

Casting
The series revolves around dowry issues in a family. Radhika Rao is making her Tamil series debut as the female lead and Ashwin who formerly acted in Azhagu will be the male lead[3]. Actress Sirisha Sougandh a.k.a Ravali will be portrayed as a negative mother-in-law role. Official teaser has been released by Star Vijay in Youtube on 06 August 2018. [4].
Title
This title was taken from a 1973 feature film Ponnukku Thanga Manasu starring Sivakumar, Vijayakumar, Jayachitra and Vidhubala in the lead roles. The English meaning of this title is The girl has a golden heart.
