Play the Siren (Hangul: 플레이 더 사이렌, also stylized as PLAY THE SIREN) was a South Korean co-ed hip-hop group that debuted in 2014 with the single "Dream Drive".
History
Pre-debut
Play the Siren was a hip-hop crew that brought the genre of urban music by creating electronic music and hardcore rap. Earlier, they made a mix tape on Baljunso YouTube's official account and one of the members, Kasper as solo career by making the same thing in her YouTube account.
2014 : Debut with Dream Drive
SM Entertainment has joined with Baljunso as subsidiary since 2014 and investment in indie label. Then SM Entertainment and Baljunso make to launch showcase titled Baljunso World Wide Promotion in Hongdae on March 8 and features performances including HLIN, Love and Peace, and 015B's Jang Ho Il project band.[2] Following the announcement, SM Entertainment will assist to debut Play the Siren in music industry with their single album, Dream Drive on June.[3]
On July 17, they released a teaser and Luna of f(x) participated in their song and music video.[4] The song is addictive and powerful EDM sound with R&B genre, while the group's focus is hip hop and R&B, they work to combine different.[5] On July 21, the music video has released on Baljunso and SM Entertainment official YouTube, and debut on Music Bank.[6]
On 23 July, the song Cypher was released, making it their first comeback and their first full rap/hip-hop song.
2015 : Green Light, I'll be there and disband
A Teaser of their upcoming song green light was upload on YouTube the 19 April 2015 before the official release of their comeback the 27 April 2015, with this time only 3 members : Kasper, Siren and Beckbum. The 16 July, a comeback was released but only starred member Siren, supposing that either it was his solo debut or that he's the only remaining member of Play the Siren; the comeback, i'll be there, featured singer Miel from the girl group Bay.b .With the departure of numerous members one by one (CJ, SQUALLA, ChiChi and lastly Kasper), Play the Siren disband in August 2015.
