Planetshakers Church is an evangelical Christian Pentecostal megachurch adult and youth movement in Melbourne, Australia. It is also the name of the church band with a number of significant album releases. The band and the church has seen a lot of success having been nominated for multiple Dove Awards.

Planetshakers is one of the fastest growing churches in Australia,[2] [3] recognized internationally for its contemporary worship music (Planetshakers and Planetboom), and its record label Planetshakers Ministries International, whose songs have been translated and reinterpreted in many evangelical churches of the world.

Planetshakers also consists of other church campuses around the world including Austin, Texas,[4][5] Cape Town, South Africa,[6][7] Singapore,[8] and Geneva, Switzerland.[9]

History

Planetshakers Church (formerly Melbourne City Church) is a Pentecostal Christian church affiliated with Australian Christian Churches, the Assemblies of God in Australia. Formed as an Australian Christian Conference and band in 1997. The conference originated from within Paradise Community Church now known as Influencers Church, in Adelaide South Australia. It is now based in Melbourne, Australia.[10] The church started when the band and ministry moved to Melbourne in 2004. The church's senior pastor's are Russell and Sam Evans and has over 17,000 members.[11] Russell Evans is the son of longtime pastor Andrew Evans.

Currently, Planetshakers has five campuses in Melbourne; City, North, North East, South East and Geelong, with an additional four international campuses in Switzerland, Singapore, South Africa, and United States. Its founder, Russell Evans, declared its aims, "I believe that the church of God should be the greatest party on the planet... We're here not just to be local, we're here to be global and we can have the ability to influence the whole planet.

Planetshakers Music

Created as part of the first Planetshakers conference, this contemporary worship music band, with over 30 internationally acclaimed albums, the band tours annually around the globe and has seen a lot of success having been nominated for multiple Dove Awards.

Planetboom

Youth ministry branch of Planetshakers primarily targeting high school students, ministring to teenagers via channels like school programs, youth camps and friday meetups.[12] They created Planetboom band and released first four singles in 2018.
