Pieter Groenewald is a South African politician. He serves as a member of the National Assembly of South Africa, and he is the leader of the Freedom Front Plus political party.

Early life

Pieter Groenewald was born in South Africa.[1] He graduated from Potchefstroom University for Christian Higher Education in Potchefstroom, where he earned a B.luris degree, followed by a postgraduate diploma in Communications, a master's degree in Management and Development, and a doctorate in Politics.[2]

Career

Groenewald began his political career He was elected as the mayor of Stilfontein in 1988.[3] During the South African general election of 1989, Groenewald was elected member of the House of Assembly of South Africa for Stilfontein.

Groenewald was a co-founder of Freedom Front Plus, a pro-Afrikaner nationalism political party, in 1994.[2] Since 12 November 2016 he is its leader.[1]

Since 1994-1999 and then from 2001, Groenewald has served as a member of the National Assembly of South Africa, where he is elected on the national list. He was also member of the Northwest Legislature from 1999-2001. North West.[2] He was re-elected in 2014.[2] In June 2017, he warned that a civil war will start (see parliament Hansard) if the government expropriated land without compensating the landowners.[4]
