Philaeus is a spider genus of the Salticidae family (jumping spiders).

Philaeus maoniuensis was moved to genus Yllenus in 2003.[1]

Distribution

Philaeus has a wide distribution, with most species coming from the Mediterranean and West Africa. Single species are known from Guatemala and the Galapagos Islands.[2]
