As of 2009, official statistics showed 137,154 Peruvians in Spain.[1]

Integration and community

In 2008, Wilbert Bendezú Carpio, the vice-president of the Parliament of the Andean Community of Nations, denounced what he described as racism, xenophobia, and unwarranted violence by Spanish police against Peruvian migrants.[2]

The country with the most desertion of residents

In just one year, the Peruvian colony in Spain decreased by 23.76%, a figure that places Peru as the country with the greatest dropout of official residents in that nation.From 109,639 official residents in Spain, as of January 1, 2013, to 83,583, as of January 1, 2014. That is, 26,055 fewer Peruvians are among the foreign population in that country, "information disseminated by the National Institute of Statistics (INEI).[3]
