Penny Hamilton

Penny Hamilton (born 1948)[1] is a pilot and advocate for women pilots. She has a B.A. from Columbia University and a Masters and Ph.D. in Community and Human Resources from the University of Nebraska. She has lived in Granby, Colorado since 1989. She has a World Aviation Speed Record which she co-holds with her husband.[2] She set it on October 22, 1991. She was inducted into the Colorado Aviation Hall of Fame in 2011 and was also honored by the Greater Granby Area Chamber of Commerce in 2011 with their Lifetime Achievement Award.[2] In 2012 she received the National Association of State Aviation Officials National Journalism Award.[1] She received the ABC-Denver 7 Every Day Hero Award[3] for the aviation education programs that she does for children.[4] She is also a member of the Colorado Aviation Hall of Fame and the Colorado Women's Hall of Fame.[5][6] She is the director of the Teaching Women to Fly Research Project and also the Colorado Airport History Preservation Project.[1]
