Peeter Gijsels

Peeter Gijsels (1621, Antwerp – 1690, Antwerp), was a Flemish Baroque painter.
Biography
According to Houbraken he was a pupil of Jan Brueghel the Younger and made small finely painted landscapes populated with figures.[1] Houbraken saw views of the Rhine by him that were quite good, done in the manner of Herman Saftleven.[1]
According to the RKD he was a pupil of Johannes Boots and became a master of the Antwerp Guild of St. Luke in 1650.[2] He is sometimes confused with Philips Gijsels.[2] He had a son of the same name and is known for landscapes and still life paintings.[2]
