Patricia Moran (25 September 1944 – 14 July 2017), was an Australian painter. During her lifetime she authored books and video lessons. Her speciality was to paint colourful floral works.[1]

She won the Alice Bale Overseas study scholarship and the Yorick club art prize in 1982[2] and gave workshops for the Victorian Artists Society. Patricia won many awards over the years.


Biography

Born in Victoria, Australia, Patricia spent several years working as personal assistant and secretary before start studying art in 1977. In 1991 her first book “Painting The Beauty Of Flowers With Oils" [3] was published and used as textbook in some art colleges. In 2000, she authored the book “The Oil Painter's Ultimate Flower & Portrait Companion”[4].

Over her career she has won many awards, including two Camberwell Rotary Guild medals and the Alice Bale Overseas Study award. She had a passion to teach and encourage beginner artists. Patricia tutored at Burwood State College and at the Victorian Artists Society for six years.[5]

On her works she had special attention to detail in every stage of execution and composition. She often travelled to the country side to collect the best flowers in the season, carefully selected based on size, colour and shape.

Patricia passed away in 17 July 2017.[6]
