Park Seo-joon (born Park Yong-gyu on December 16, 1988) is a South Korean actor. He is best known for his roles in the television dramas Kill Me, Heal Me (2015), She Was Pretty (2015), Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth (2016-2017), Fight for My Way (2017), and What's Wrong with Secretary Kim (2018), and the film Midnight Runners (2017).
Early life
Park began his mandatory military service in 2008, when he was 19 years old, and was discharged in 2010.[3]
Career
Park made his entertainment debut in 2011 by appearing in the music video of Bang Yong-guk's single "I Remember."[4] He then appeared in television dramas Dream High 2 (2012),[5][6] Pots of Gold (2013),[1] One Warm Word (2013),[7] and A Witch's Love (2014).[1] From October 2013 to April 2015, he was the host of Music Bank.[8][9]
His breakout roles came in 2015 with two hit dramas Kill Me, Heal Me and She Was Pretty.[10][11][12][13] The same year, Park featured in thriller film The Chronicles of Evil.[14]
In 2016, Park starred in youth historical drama Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth alongside Go Ara.[15][16]
In 2017, Park starred in youth romance drama, Fight for My Way alongside Kim Ji-won.[17] The television series was a hit and topped ratings in its time slot.[18] The same year, he played his first big-screen leading role in action comedy Midnight Runners with Kang Ha-neul.[19][20] Park won the Best New Actor award at major film award ceremonies such as the Grand Bell Awards and Korean Association of Film Critics Awards.[21][22]
In 2018, Park starred in tvN's romantic comedy drama What's Wrong with Secretary Kim alongside Park Min-young.[23][24] The series was a major hit in South Korea and Park received positive reviews by critics for his performance, being dubbed the "master of romantic comedy" by Korean press.[25][26][27] The same year, Park was cast in the occult film The Divine Fury.[28]
