Lower part of Shiva lingam represents Parashakti

Parashakti (IAST: Paraśakti, Sanskrit: पराशक्ति)[1] is one of three aspects of the Hindu God Shiva. It means "supreme energy" or "highest energy".[2] According to the Saiva Siddhanta, which is a major school of Shaivism (Shaivism is one of 4 major sampradaya of Hinduism); Parashakti is all-pervasive, pure consciousness, power and primal substance of all that exists and it has form unlike parashiva which is formless.[3] Other two aspects of Lord Shiva are parashiva and parameshwara.[4][5]

The lower part (pedestal) of Shiva lingam represents parashakti while upper part (oval stone) represents parashiva.[6]
