Paola Hernandez

Paola Hernandez (born 1982) is an American fashion designer, born in Mexico City and based in Brooklyn, New York. She designs womenswear and knitwear, made in the U.S. Hernández studied fashion at Saint Martin’s in London. She believes that "fashion is the manifestation of collective consciousness in everyday life." Hernández utilizes fashion design as a means of exploring ideas and proposing ways of life. These can inspire humanity towards a better state of mind through self-development. Her designs are based on philosophical concepts with a clean aesthetic. "My creative process starts with a question of how to understand human evolution.” says Paola. Behind each collection, the colors and materials are chosen to represent individual concepts. Hernández often collaborates with contemporary artists to deepen the symbolism behind each design element.

Throughout her career, she has presented her collections in New York, London, Paris, Reykjavik, Bogota, and Mexico City. She has also dressed a wide range of artists. Musicians from bands such as Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Horrors, The Stills, Stars, Mexican Institute of Sound, Moderatto, Adanowsky, Ximena Sariñana; and actresses for the Cannes Festival such as Karina Gidi and Silvia Navarro.

Hernández's designs have been featured in a wide range of publications, from Vogue, Elle, Harper's Bazaar, InStyle, to WWD, and Nylon.

The first Paola Hernández store opened in Mexico City in January 2013, followed by a store in Brooklyn, NY in July 2015.
