Palomino rabbit

The Palomino rabbit is a breed of rabbit, normally 8-12 pounds in weight, which is generally colored gold or lynx. It was first bred in Washington State, United States, by Mark Youngs, who wanted to make a ''new'' breed of rabbit. As with the palomino horse, the rabbit gets its name from its color.[1][2]

Creation

The Palomino rabbit was created by Mark Youngs, in Washington State, United States. They were first presented in 1952 at the American Rabbit Breeders Association's national convention. The name "Palomino" was adopted in 1953 and, in the 1960s, Palominos became more common.[3]

History of Palomino rabbit

Palomino rabbits had unique 'lawny' brown color and their bodies are larger than other breeds which can be easily identify They looks similar like the New Zealand rabbits [4]and they have two main color variables, Golden and Lynx. Palomino rabbit was a new breed created by Mark Youngs[4]. Mark Youngs was a resident of Washington state who had raised different rabbits for around 10 years from the year 1910[5]. One of his dream is to develop a new breed of rabbit. Fortunately, he realized his dream that developed a new breed named palomino rabbit between 1940 and 1950[5] . Furthermore, after all the efforts of the breeders that are dealing with many challenges, the breed was finally recognized in the year 1957[5].
