Péter Szakály (Hungarian pronunciation: [ˈpeːtɛr ˈsɒkaːj]; born 17 August 1986 in Nagyatád) is a Hungarian football (midfielder) player who currently plays for Puskás Akadémia and the Hungary national team. Full international since 2012, he represented his nation for 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.

Club career

Debrecen

Szakály won the 2009–10 season of the Hungarian League with Debrecen despite his team lost to Kecskeméti TE in the last round.[1] In 2010 Debrecen beat Zalaegerszegi TE in the Hungarian Cup final in the Puskás Ferenc Stadium by 3-2.[2]

On 1 May 2012 Szakály won the Hungarian Cup with Debrecen by beating MTK Budapest on penalty shoot-out in the 2011-12 season. This was the fifth Hungarian Cup trophy for Debrecen.[3]

On 12 May 2012 Szakály won the Hungarian League title with Debrecen after beating Pécs in the 28th round of the Hungarian League by 4-0 at the Oláh Gábor út Stadium which resulted the sixth Hungarian League title for the Hajdús.[4][5] On January 2017, he left Debrecen, after 9 years period. In this club he played 211 matches and scored 42 goals.

He signed contract with Puskas Akademia on March 2017.

Debrecen

National team

On 1 June 2012 Szakály debuted in the Hungarian national team against the Czech Republic in Prague. The final result was 2-1 to Hungary. In 2018 he was called to national team for the June friendly match with Belarus. Szakaly was released after change on 74 minute match. Match ended 1-1. In this year on September he was included on national team squad on UEFA Nations League for match with Greece. He played all 90 minutes and Hungary win 2-1.
