Owen Rhys Williams (born 27 January 1986 in Blackwood, Caerphilly) is a rugby union player for Pontypridd RFC and Wales Sevens.[1]

Williams began his rugby career playing for the Blackwood RFC junior division.

Whilst playing for the Youth team, Williams contracted Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, which rendered him unable to play for two seasons.[2]

In 2007, his health improved, and he joined the Blackwood senior team, impressing with his pace and his towering frame. Pontypridd visited Glan-yr-Afon Park in February 2008 during the Konica Minolta Cup campaign, where Williams gave a stand-out performance for the opposition.

Pontypridd drafted Williams on permit for the rest of the 2007/08 season- a season which saw him start for Pontypridd in the Konica Minolta Cup Final.[3]

Williams was then signed for Pontypridd permanently.

Early 2011 saw Williams given the opportunity to stake a claim with the Wales Sevens Development Team, and bringing his leadership skills to the fore, Owen captained the team during their FIRA-AER tournament in Spain. In November 2011, Williams captained the senior Wales Sevens team.
