Othello is a reversi video game developed and published by Arc System Works. It received mixed or average reviews according to Metacritic.

Reception

According to Metacritic the game received a 55/100 from critics, indicating "mixed or average" reviews.[7] Writing for Nintendo Life, Dan Thompson gave the game 6/10 stars, stating that this adaptation is "faithful and holds up" and found the local multiplayer to be "a blast", however he criticized the artificial intelligence which he found to be either "incredibly smart or unfourtunately dense". In the conclusion he stated that the title would be "much more at home" had it been "included with a compilation of other tabletop games", but deemed it a "functional and solid release" nonetheless.[8]

In his review for Gaming Age, Dustin Chadwell gave the game a B-, calling it an "OK representation of Othello" but one that "doesn’t really do anything else than give you basic video game Othello." Furthermore, Chadwell found it "bland and by-the-numbers" which he found "disappointing considering it has been forever since I’ve played Othello in any format." However, he concluded that "if you’ve got five bucks to spend, and you’re looking for something to play on the Switch, it’s not a bad way to go".[9]
