Orzeliscus is a genus of tardigrades, the oldest in the family Stygarctus.[1]

Its etymology is Orzel and +-iscus as in Echiniscus.

History

The genus is the second oldest in the family and was named and described by Eveline du Bois-Reymond Marcus in 1952.

It has two species, from 1953 to 2017, it had a species that was once called Orzeliscus septentrionalis, it became placed in another genus. In early to mid 2017, another species was added Orzeliscus asiaticus and became the third species included in the genus.
