Orange County FC is a soccer club based in Lake Forest, California, playing in the National Premier Soccer League and the United Premier Soccer League. They began play in the NPSL in the West Region’s Southwest Conference, in March 2017.[1] The club's colors are light blue and white. NPSL home matches are currently played at Championship Soccer Stadium in Irvine, and UPSL matches are played at Lake Forest Sports Park. Its supporters group is called the I5 Army, named after the Interstate 5, or Santa Ana Freeway, as it is called in Orange and Los Angeles Counties.

History

Orange County FC was founded in 2009, and competed in the So-Cal Premier League between 2009 and 2016.

NPSL

On November 15, 2016, the club announced that it would join the NPSL as an expansion team for the 2017 season. OCFC finished second in their inaugural NPSL Southwest Conference season, with a record of ten wins, five draws and only one defeat. The club made the playoffs where they eliminated conference leader FC Arizona by a score of 2-0, and eventually fell to CD Aguiluchos USA by a score of 1-0 in a California regional final pitting North and South, one game away from reaching the national semifinals.

UPSL

On August 15, 2017 OCFC announced a reserve team in the United Premier Soccer League, to be called "OCFC 2." [2] OCFC 2 finished second in their first Western Pro Premier Conference campaign, with a record of eleven wins, two losses and one tie. The club made the UPSL playoffs and fell 6-5 in penalty kicks to Santa Ana Winds FC at Championship Soccer Stadium on January 7, 2018.

2018 U.S. Open Cup

OCFC qualified to the 2018 U.S. Open Cup by finishing with one of the best records in the NPSL, in 2017. On April 4, 2018, the US Soccer Federation announced the pairings of the first Open Cup round in which OCFC drew Santa Ana Winds FC, in a match scheduled for May 9, 2018.
