The orange-backed woodpecker (Reinwardtipicus validus) is a woodpecker found in southern Thailand, Malaya, Sarawak and Sabah in Malaysia, Brunei, Sumatra and Java. It is a member of the family Picidae and in the monotypic genus Reinwardtipicus. It sometimes is placed in the genus Chrysocolaptes.
