Oppo R17

The OPPO R17[1] and OPPO R17 Pro[2] are phablet smartphones manufactured by Oppo. They were officially unveiled on August 23, 2018, for the Chinese market.[3][4] It will be the first smartphone from Oppo to receive Oppo’s Latest Hyper Boost Acceleration Engine which provides improvements in gaming performance, system, and app usage.[5]

Availability

Global

The OPPO R17 and R17 Pro were posted on their global website[6] the same date where it was in their Singapore web on October 6, 2018. The phones' web catalog is on English language. They are going to be available to the public on October 10, 2018. Meanwhile before their availability, Oppo added a special website regarding the R-Series' heritage and history.[7] A video was posted on Youtube related to the R-Series' history.[8]

China

The R17, together with the R17 Pro, were available on August 30, 2018, in China.[9]

Singapore

Commercial

Oppo Singapore's new TV Commercial of the Oppo R17 Pro was released.[10]

India

The Oppo R17 is expected to be launched on November 28, 2018 while the Oppo R17 Pro will be on November 30 in India.[11]

Photography

The Oppo R17's dual rear cameras and single front selfie lens have improved AI capabilities. Some of its features include:

  • AI Scene and Object Recognition (23 labels and 864 scenes)
  • AI Custom Beauty (face lifting, make-up, chin shortening, etc.)
  • AI Portrait Mode

Oppo R17 Pro has the same photography features as the Oppo R17 but added more bells and whistles. Some features even made a competitor to other smartphones.

Design

The Oppo R17 has a 6.4-inch AMOLED capacitive display using a screen shared with the Oppo Find X. Under the display is an in-screen fingerprint sensor.[14]

Colors

It will be available in three colors – Radiant Mist, Ambient Blue, and Neon Purple.[15]

Processor

Its processor is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 SoC, with 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage.

Camera

Its dual cameras are a 16 MP main camera with a 5 MP depth sensor equipped with AI Scene and Object Recognition, while its front camera has 25 million pixels.

Software

The Oppo R17 runs on Color OS 5.2,[16] based on Android 8.1.

It will have a Radiant Mist and Emerald Green color option.[17]

It's triple rear cameras are a 12 million pixel depth sensor, 20 million pixel camera with Dual-Aperture, and a ToF 3D Stereo Camera. Its single front camera has 20 million pixels.

It has a 8+128 GB Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 Chipset.
