Operation Condor (disambiguation)

Operation Condor has been the codename of a number of military operations:

French operation:

• Operation Condor (1954) was the name of a French intelligence service GCMA operation during the Battle of Dien Bien Phu on 30 April 1954

Latin American operation:

• Operativo Cóndor, a group of Argentines hijacked a civilian aircraft and forced the captain to land in the Falkland Islands.
• Operation Condor (Spanish:Operación Cóndor), a campaign of assassination and intelligence-gathering conducted jointly by the security services of Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, and Uruguay in the mid-1970s

Mexican operation:

• Operation Condor was a program in Mexico during the 1980s to eradicate fields where drugs were grown (primarily marijuana and opium). The USA provided resources such as planes to assist the operation. Though touted as a success story by the US and Mexican governments during the program's first few years, the operation became controversial, and was eventually terminated, when reports surfaced of its ineffectiveness and corruption (as some drug trafficking organizations were paying Mexican officials for protection from the raids and for restricting the raids to the fields of competing organizations).

British operations:

• Operation Condor (Afghanistan): A major British-led operation in southeastern Afghanistan, the operation began on 17 May 2002
• Operation Constellation: One of a number of proposals in 1943 by, then, Vice Admiral Lord Louis Mountbatten to take back the Channel Islands from German occupation in World War II. It was never mounted
