OpenOcean is a European venture capital firm based in Helsinki, Finland, with offices in London and Amsterdam. The firm specializes in Series A investments in enterprise software, big data, artificial intelligence, machine learning, adtech and fintech, and closed its €100 million fund in 2015.[1][2][3] It was established in 2008 by the founders and early investors of MySQL, Michael "Monty" Widenius, Patrik Backman and Ralf Wahlsten, later joined by former Nokia ad chief Tom Henriksson.[4][5]
Investments
Notable investments made by OpenOcean include MariaDB, Truecaller, RapidMiner, EyeEm and Import.io. Their active portfolio includes over 25 companies.[6][7]
