Olivier Dubois

Olivier Dubois (born in 1972) is a French contemporary dance choreographer.

Early life

Dubois was born in 1972 in Colmar. After studying foreign languages at the National Institute of Eastern Languages and Civilizations, law and economics, Dubois decided to become a dancer at age 23.

Career

In 1999, he created his first solo project, Under Cover. He danced in pieces created by choreographers and directors such as Sasha Waltz and Angelin Preljocaj. He danced with Cirque du Soleil in 2003. He collaborated with Jan Fabre from 2003 to 2007, with whom he created C'est mon maître. The SACD and the Festival d'Avignon asked him to create a piece in the framework of festival in 2006.

Dubois founded COD in 2007. The company changed its name to "Ballet du Nord Olivier Dubois" in 2014. He worked with Karima Mansour, founder and artistic director of the Cairo Contemporary Dance Center, where he has stayed regularly since 1990. In January 1, 2014, he became director of Center Choregraphique National Roubaix - Nord-Pas-de-Calais.[1] He created one of the most controversial dance pieces, "Tradegie," in 2012, where all dancers are naked.[2]
