Oliver S. Powell

Oliver S. Powell was a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly. He was a member of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System from September 1, 1850, until June 30, 1852.

Biography

Powell was born in Madrid, New York June 19, 1830. He was a farmer. Powell served in the Wisconsin State Assembly from 1870 to 1872 and was a Republican.[1]

He and his brother, Nathaniel, co-founded what is now River Falls, Wisconsin. Oliver owned a farm there and his brother built a sawmill there. Powell died on September 26, 1888 after being severely injured at the sawmill.[2]
