Odugathur is a panchayat town in Vellore district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

Demographics

As of 2011 India census,[1] Odugathur had a population of 16,047. Males constitute 49% of the population and females 51%. Odugathur has an average literacy rate of 64%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 73%, and female literacy is 54%. In Odugathur, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age. Odugathur is a prominent town with about 60 villages around it.

Odugathur is surrounded by mountains and the foothills of Javadi.

Odugathur contains the God Shiva Temple and its 300 years of history.

It is also contains The Perumal Temple with almost 1000 years of history.

The Temple name Saptharisheeswarar Temple is a seemingly old temple recently renovated and cleanly maintained facing east without a Rajagopuram

The Mariamman Temple located in Sandhapet has the Hugadhi celebration every year

The GangaiAmman Temple has its celebrations on Vaigasi 15 every year its very famous (organized by Athumedu peoples for long long time to still now) .

And the river Uttra Kavery is very special that its originating from East and flown through North. unlike most of the rivers are just opposite to this river. nowadays it was dry and reduced its own dimension. some time it was in dry is most famous and most useful river village and around odugathur.
