Norwegian Archaeological Society

The Norwegian Archaeological Society (Norwegian: Norsk Arkeologisk Selskap) is a professional society for archaeologists.

Formed in 1936,[1] its first secretary-general was Anton Wilhelm Brøgger, who served until his death in 1951.[2] The purpose of the society is to propagate results of Norwegian archaeological research. It releases the publication Viking.[1]

The current praeses is Christen Aass, and the secretary-general is Egil Mikkelsen. Their headquarters are located in the Viking Ship Museum.[3]
