The Northwest Nazarene Nighthawks, formerly the Crusaders,[2] are the 13 varsity athletic teams that represent Northwest Nazarene University, located in Nampa, Idaho, in NCAA Division II intercollegiate sports. The Crusaders compete as members of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. NNU added tennis as a club team in the Fall of 2013. Along with the Eastern Nazarene College, it is one of only two Nazarene colleges to compete in the NCAA; the other six compete in the NAIA. NNU's athletic moniker is "Nighthawks" and colors are red and black. The schools main rival is NAIA College of Idaho, located a short distance to the west in Caldwell, Idaho.

A prominent member of the school's athletic department is Scott Flemming, who coached India’s national basketball team for several years.[3]
