Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) was started in 1985 and is a subsidiary of Coal India. Its headquarters is in Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh, India. Earlier it was a part of Central Coalfields Limited (CCL). The area of Singrauli Coalfields is about 2202 Sq.Km. The coalfield consists of two basins, the Moher sub-basin with an area of 312 Sq.Km. and the largely unexplored Singrauli main basin (1890 Sq.Km) in the west. The present coal-mining is concentrated in Moher sub-basin. NCL produces coal through its ten opencast mines.[1]
