North East Premier League
The North East Premier League is the top level of competition for recreational club cricket in the North East of England, serving the counties of Durham, Northumberland and Tyne and Wear. Since 2000 it has been a designated ECB Premier League.[1]
The most successful team has been South Northumberland Cricket Club who have been champions on eleven occasions in the league's eighteen year history, including six consecutive championships between 2003 and 2008.
In 2013, the league expanded into two divisions (Premier and Division 1) following a restructure of the cricketing leagues in the North East. Subsequently, the Durham Cricket League and Northumberland & Tyneside Senior Cricket League began to feed into the NEPL in the revised pyramid structure for the purposes of promotion and relegation.
The competing Premier League teams for 2018 are: Benwell Hill, Chester-le-Street, Durham CCC Academy, Eppleton, Felling, Hetton Lyons, Newcastle, Sacriston, South Northumberland, Stockton, Tynemouth, and Whitburn.
The teams in Division One in 2018 are: Blaydon, Boldon, Brandon, Burnmoor, Burnopfield, Castle Eden, Gateshead Fell, South Shields, Sunderland, Washington, and Willington.
