North East India Development Party

North East India Development Party (NEIDP) is a regional North-East-centric political party primarily based in Manipur (India). It was formed on 23rd December 2015 and registered with the Election Commission of India. [1]

History

North East India Development Party (NEIDP) was founded by Shri Narengbam Samarjit Singh, a visionary, young, dynamic and energetic leader on Wednesday, the 23rd December 2015, out of the aspiration and expectations of the people of Manipur and the entire North East Region to bring growth and developmental changes in the entire North Eastern region with its ideology based on Gandhian values and ideas to foster democracy in all its dimensions, economic, political, social and cultural which is determined to deliver the learning from our ancient history and the freedom struggle within the framework of the Indian Constitution.

The registered Head Office of the Party is at Sagolband Tera Loukrakpam Leikai, Imphal West – 795001, Manipur, India. The flag of North East India Development Party (NEIDP) is of white background with 7 (seven) colours of stars (black, red, white, blue, yellow, green and violet) arranged in numerical 8 (eight) shape in the middle of the flag.

Objective of The Party

• North East India Development Party is a political party within the meaning and provisions of the representation of the People’s Act, 1951 and all subsequent amendments till date.

• North East India Development Party shall bear true faith and allegiance to the Constitution of India as by law established and to the principles of socialism, secularism and democracy and would uphold the sovereignty, unity and integrity of India.

• The party shall strive hard to uphold the political, social and economic rights as provided under the Constitution of India.

• The party is committed to the task of building a developed democratic India based on principle of equal opportunity to all the citizens. The Party will lay special emphasis on improving the condition of socially and economically disadvantaged sections of the society in order to build an India based on lofty objectives of our freedom struggle and Gandhian Principles.

• The Party will endeavour to campaign against evil influence of money power and muscle power vitiating the democratic politics.

• The party will pursue a policy of social and economic justice and development. It believes in Gandhian concept of decentralization of power so that the fruits of development could be made available to all the citizens. It also believes in peaceful and democratic forms of expression of dissent.

• The Party is firmly committed to secularism and is against the concept of a theocratic state.

• The Party shall be ever ready to fight against all forces that threaten to disrupt the unity and integrity of India.

• The Party will achieve its objectives through peaceful and democratic forms of campaigns like meetings, seminars, conferences and rallies. It will also raise the contemporary issues affecting common citizens during election campaigns.

• The Party will contest the elections conducted by the Election Commission of India, within five years of its registration and thereafter will continue to contest.

• The Party declares that it will not in any manner promote or instigate or participate in violence.

• The Party shall work ceaselessly to promote peace, progress and communal harmony amongst the people of North East India and shall make utmost endeavour to promote fraternity, tolerance and harmony with all the other communities of our country.

• The Party shall give due recognition to the principle of human dignity and the party shall fight in a non-violent, democratic and peaceful manner against all kinds of injustice and inequality perpetrated on grounds of caste, colour, creed, religion and gender.

• The Party shall work for the interest and welfare of the backward and depressed communities, constitutional rights of the minorities, scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and other backward classes.

• The Party is committed to uphold the age-old traditions, customs and rich cultural heritage of different ethnic communities of the North Eastern states.

Symbolic meaning and significance of the flag

• White background stands for TRUTH.

• Number of STARS stand for North East Region of our country namely Seven Sisters.

• Numerical figure 8 (eight) shape stands for unity amongst the stars and the colours.

• Seven colours stands for the natural gift bestowed to the Seven Sisters.

Achieving all round development through social revolution, economy revolution and political revolution within 20 years in Manipur as well as in whole north east region.[2]

NEIDP in the 2017 Manipur Legislative Assembly Election

NEIDP projected 13 candidates out of the total 60 seats of the Manipur Legislative Assembly however the party did not win any seat. Considering the youngness of the party which was establised in 2015, the performance of the party was viewed by many as the party with potential.
