Conservation programme

The ecosystem of the Maldivian Islands is continuously under threat with rising sea water temperatures.[12] Therefore, the hotel has a resident marine biologist who oversees the ecosystem. For the hotel guests who are interested in joining conservation activities, the Niyama Private Islands has an adopt a coral program[13][14][15] in which coral gardens are cultivated with attached iron frames covered in sand. This creates an environment for the corals to grow faster.

The hotel also has a Marine centre researching on coral - reefscaping helping to preserve endangered coral species. The Marines centre provides information and education to the hotel guests regarding the coral reefs through their research work.
