Nina Compton is a Saint Lucian chef. She won a James Beard Award in 2018 and Food & Wine magazine named her as one of the best new chefs of 2017.[1]

Career

Compton competed on Season 11 of Top Chef.[2] She was the Top Chef, Season 11 runner up[3] and was voted fan favorite by viewers.[4]

In June 2015, Compton opened her own restaurant in New Orleans, Louisiana, Compère Lapin.[5] Compère Lapin serves Caribbean-style cuisine and is located at 535 Tchoupitoulas Street in the New Orleans Central Business District.[6]

In 2018, she received the James Beard Award for Best Chef: South.[7]

In March 2018, Compton opened Bywater American Bistro in New Orleans with Husband/Partner Larry Miller and Chef/Partner Levi Rains.[8]

Personal life

Compton is married to Larry Miller.[5] She is the daughter of Sir John George Melvin Compton, who served as Prime Minister of Saint Lucia on three different occasions.[5]
