Nikola Kuga (Serbian Cyrillic: Николa Kуга; born October 13, 1986 ) is a Serbian-Croatian professional basketball player who last played for Al Moutahed of the FLB League. Standing at 2.00 m (6 ft 7 in), he plays the Small Forward position.
Professional career
Nikola grew up in the famous basketball school of FMP Belgrade, he played for youth teams of KK FMP from 2005 to 2007. He passed almost the same program as many current Serbian national team players such as Milos Teodosic, Milan Macvan etc. He was coached by the best coaches in the country. In 2007/08 he played for K.K.Srem.
On sempteber 2008 Kuga signed a one-year deal with Sport Plazza Casablanca (Morocco).[1] In 2009–10 season, he played for Hopsi Pozela.
From 2010 to 2015 He has played for several European basketball teams including U.M.F. Skallagrímur (Iceland), Tallina Kalev (Estonia), Umea (Sweden),[2][3] BBG Herford (Germany).
Outside Europe, he has suited up for a number of the teams such as Al Moutahed (Lebanon), Al Sarjah (UAE)[4], R.L.C (Maldeves).[5][6]
- Colombia
In 2011, Kuga signed with Cucuta Norte, a professional basketball club based in Cucuta (Colombia). He became the first Serbian and first player from Eastern Europe to play in the Colombian league (LNB – Colombia). Kuga averaged 24 games :15.3ppg, 5.4rpg, 3.0apg, FGP: 67.8%, 3PT:39.1%, FT: 86.7% during his stay with Cucuta Norte.
- Indonesia
Laskar Dreya South Sumatra team announced in August 2014 that Kuga will play for Laskar Dreaya in ASEAN Basketball League.[4] He Has become first European player who got chance to Play ABL.
- Australia
On April 1, 2015 he signed for Diamond Valley Eagles and Australia become his 5th continent where he played.[4]
Player Profile
Kuga plays the wing and Small Forward positions. Nikola is an accurate, talented shooter who possesses great shooting ability both for three pointers and for two .Aside from having great individual skills, he is often described as a player who possesses a winning mentality and good attitude.
