Nick Shore (born September 26, 1992) is an American professional ice hockey center who is currently an unrestricted free agent. He most recently played for the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was a third-round selection (82nd overall) of the Los Angeles Kings in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

Playing career

Shore was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in the third-round (82nd overall) in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. Despite being drafted, Shore committed to play at the University of Denver. He signed an entry-level contract with the Kings on April 13, 2013.[1] Shore was then assigned to the Kings' AHL affiliate, the Manchester Monarchs, for the 2013–14 season.

Shore made his NHL debut on January 17, 2015, against the Anaheim Ducks.[2] He scored his first NHL goal on March 26, 2015, in a 3–2 win over the New York Islanders.[3]

Shore signed a one-year contract extension with the Kings on July 6, 2017.[4]

On February 13, 2018, Shore was traded to the Ottawa Senators along with Marián Gáborík in exchange for Dion Phaneuf and Nate Thompson.[5] Shore appeared in six games with the Senators, registering one assist, before he was traded at the trade deadline to the Calgary Flames in exchange for a seventh-round pick in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft on February 26, 2018.[6] At the conclusion of the season, Shore was not tendered a qualifying offer and was released to free agency.[7]

Personal life

His brothers are also hockey players: Drew Shore is a forward for the ZSC Lions, and Quentin Shore played NCAA college hockey at the University of Denver and was drafted by the Ottawa Senators in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. He currently plays for the Florida Everblades in the ECHL.[8] His younger brother, Baker, currently plays with the Chicago Steel in the USHL and is committed to Harvard University.[9]
