Nick Monson
Nick Monson is an American songwriter and producer, based in Los Angeles, CA. He rose to prominence for writing and producing tracks on Lady Gaga's Artpop. Two songs that he helped compose and produce, Gaga's "Applause" and Selena Gomez's "Good For You", reached the Top 5 of the Billboard Hot 100. Monson has also written and produced for Britney Spears, Nick Jonas, and Little Mix. Monson has been signed to Maxwell and Carter Publishing and Warner/Chappell Publishing since 2014.
Early life and education
Born in Danville, but raised in Oakwood, Illinois, Monson moved to Ohio for college to study music recording and audio production at Recording Workshop in Chillicothe. Shortly after finishing, Monson returned to Illinois as an engineer at R. Kelly's Chicago based studio, where he worked with Kelly, Faith Evans and on the Shaft soundtrack.
Career
Monson soon moved on to Jive Studio, and met DJ White Shadow, who brought him in to help with the production of Lady Gaga's Artpop. He has songwriting and production credits on seven of the 15 songs of the album. In 2014 Monson moved to Los Angeles and was signed to Warner/Chappell[1] where he worked with Selena Gomez, Nick Jonas, Mike Posner, songwriters Justin Tranter and Julia Michaels and many other artists and writers.[2] Monson was a producer on Gomez' platinum hit "Good For You", as well as "Nobody".[3]
