Major-General Nicholas Robert Macrae Borton DSO MBE is a British Army officer. He is General Officer Commanding the 3rd (United Kingdom) Division.
Military career
Educated at Canford School and the University of Stirling,[1] Borton was commissioned into the Royal Highland Fusiliers on 4 September 1988.[2] After serving as a staff officer in the headquarters of Multi-National Division (South-East) (Iraq),[1] he became commanding officer of the Royal Highland Fusiliers, 2nd Battalion, The Royal Regiment of Scotland in 2008 and went on to be commander of 16 Air Assault Brigade in April 2013,[3] Director of Overseas Operations at the Ministry of Defence in September 2015,[4] and General Officer Commanding the 3rd (United Kingdom) Division in December 2016.[5]
He was awarded the DSO for service in Afghanistan on 6 March 2009.[6]
