Newfund is an early-stage venture capital firm with offices in Paris, France and Los Altos, California. Founded in 2008, it had raised more than 230 million euros as of September 2018, mostly from entrepreneurs, business leaders, and family offices (and unusually for France, with no government support), and invested in over 70 start-up companies, mostly in France and the United States.[1] It defines itself as "people-driven" and typically invests between €500,000 and €2m per company.[2]

In January 2016, Newfund was listed third in an independent ranking of the Top 10 French venture capital firms in the FinTech sector.[3] Newfund's founding partner François Véron is a former board member of France's Venture Capital trade body AFIC,[4] and an oft-quoted source on venture capital matters in French and international media.[5][6][7]

Investments

Companies in which Newfund has invested include:

Notable exits include Medtech, a Montpellier-based robotic surgery company that developed the ROSA robot, listed on Euronext Paris from November 2013 [13] and purchased in July 2016 by Zimmer Biomet;[14] MobPartner, a phone company purchased in March 2015 by Cheetah Mobile;[15] and Monbento, a Clermont-Ferrand-based lifestyle company whose award-winning Bento boxes are distributed by the New York Museum of Modern Art,[16] purchased in July 2018 by Peugeot Freres Industrie.[17]

Team

François Véron created Newfund in 2008 after a decade of private equity investment experience.[18]

Newfund's other partners include Patrick Malka and Henri Deshays.[19]
